About Mapu

Mapu Quitazol

Project Coordinator

Mapu Quitazol manages SR Partners federal and foundation grant programs that have served more than 150 nonprofits, businesses, and government entities throughout Hawaii and the continental U.S.

Born and raised on Hawaii island, Mapu moved to Maui in the 1990s to attend Maui Community College. After attending MCC, she joined the Maui Economic Development Board’s team focused on developing STEM education initiatives as a way to expand opportunities for Maui children and diversify our economy.

During her decade with MEDB, Mapu nurtured partnerships to create statewide internship programs and managed more than 20 annual events for K-12 students and teachers. Among her proudest achievements: Mapu secured funding for a STEM camp for middle school girls that has since engaged 1,200 students, and collaborated with private and public partners to host the annual Introduce A Girl to Engineering Day during National Engineers Week. She also spearheaded and organized the annual Hawaii STEM Conference, which draws more than 3,000 students and teachers and 100 national STEM vendors each year.

In 2018, Mapu was selected for the third Patsy T. Mink Leadership Alliance cohort, a transformational experience that strengthened her skills in strategic planning, collaboration, and relationship building. She went on to share her expertise with UHMC as the college’s Operations Manager and then Haleakala Waldorf School as the Enrollment & Admissions Coordinator.

Mapu joined SR Partners in 2022 to manage the firm’s federal and foundation grant assistance programs. From securing funding for local governments to build safer streets to supporting community organizations trying to reduce islandwide carbon footprints, Mapu works to ensure that every individual, organization, and government agency has the technical assistance, coaching and conceptual support needed to navigate grant application and award processes. She is especially passionate about helping grassroots nonprofits secure resources that dramatically expand institutional capacity and catalyze positive change.

When she isn’t guiding organizations through grant applications, Mapu can be found spending time with her husband and two daughters. They especially love to travel and explore new places, cultures, and museums in every city they visit.
